Vestry
St. Paul is a parish church which means it is governed by the Vestry and Wardens according to the constitution and canons of the Episcopal Church in the U.S.A. the Diocese of Kentucky. The Vestry is made up of the priest, who is its chairperson, and twelve others who are elected by the whole membership of the parish at an annual meeting in staggered terms of three years length with four going off each year. After serving for a full term a person must wait a full year before being eligible to serve again.
The Senior Warden, sometimes called the "Rector's Warden", is a member of the vestry elected by the vestry to help the priest and to chair vestry meetings in the priest's absence. The Junior Warden, sometimes called the "People's Warden", is a member of the vestry elected by the vestry to look after the physical condition of the church buildings and grounds and see that they are kept up.
The vestry is fairly representative of the make-up of the parish. At present the vestry, besides the two wardens, also includes people in all sorts of work and professions. Most of our vestry, as most of our parishioners, live in Henderson but some live outside the city in the county. Our active parish membership includes people living in Indiana, and one of our Hoosier members is on the vestry.
