Liturgical Resources

A brief introduction to the Episcopal Church.

OREMUS is dedicated to being a comprehensive place of prayer on the Internet. The site includes resources for daily prayer and other worship, including a comprehensive compilation of hymns and liturgical texts. The Oremus Bible Browser includes three different versions of the Psalter used in Anglican worship and the New Revised Standard (US and British English) and the Authorized (King James) Versions of the Bible.

This site, hosted by the Society of Archbishop Justus, offers a wide variety of versions and languages of The Book of Common Prayer formatted for online browsing or printing.

The Online Daily Office gives busy people a way to participate in Morning and Evening Prayer including the readings and psalms for each day. You will also find Noonday Prayer, Compline, and Devotions for Individuals and Families here. These rites are based on The Book of Common Prayer. The Online Daily Office is a ministry of The Mission of St. Clare.

You may leave a prayer request for yourself or others. Discussion items, information items and questions -- about prayer, scripture, Christian life, liturgy, and so on -- are also welcome.

The oremus Bible Browser provides a simple interface to the New Revised Standard Version of the Bible.

The Bible Gateway provides Bible passage and keyword lookup for several translations of the Bible. It will also allow comparison of several translations at one time. (The RSV and NRSV translations are not available, however.)

Music at St. Paul's

MUSIC
at ST. PAUL'S EPISCOPAL CHURCH
Henderson, Kentucky

CHOIR: The St. Paul's Chancel Choir, consisting of professional and volunteer singers, rehearses on Sunday mornings and sings music from a variety of periods and styles: from Gregorian Chant to the classics of the British Anglican tradition; from music of the Taize' and Iona Communities to contemporary hymns found in Wonder, Love and Praise: a Supplement to The Hymnal 1982. In addition to singing every Sunday morning at the 10:00 o'clock liturgy our choir has sung in ecumenical and community events such as the W. C. Handy Festival, the World AIDS Day Community Service and the Strength in Diversity Service at the Henderson Fine Arts Center.

INSTRUMENTALISTS: Our liturgies are occasionally enhanced with handbells, recorders, percussion, guitars and other instruments. New participants are always welcome!

CONCERTS: In recent years we have hosted musicians from around our region, the country and the world, including Russicum (a vocal ensemble from Russia), the North Carolina Boys Choir, the Evansville Philharmonic Chorus, the Evansville Baroque Soloists, community bands, contemporary Christian rock musicians, and other guest organists, instrumentalists and singers.

ORGAN: The present pipe organ in this historical building is a three-manual Wicks instrument of 34 ranks. The original Wicks divisions were installed in 1939, with some of the voicing by Henry V. Willis, grandson of the great English organ builder "Father Willis". Additions were made in 1979. Earlier organs included an 1859 organ by Simmons and Wilcox of Boston, Massachusetts, followed by an organ by Henry Pilcher Sons' in 1909.

Interim Music Director and Organist: Evelyn Champion
